100 Hour Offseason

What is it?

18 minutes a day.

"That’s all it takes to be better than 95% of the world in any discipline (100 Hour Rule).

For example, if you practice the piano for 18 minutes a day for a year….you’ll basically be better than 95% of the world at the piano.

Here’s the amazing thing….18 minutes a day is 109 hours a year. That’s just 1.2% of your total available time in a year.

Using the logic in the quote above, we hold our high school program and our youth program (Fox River Freeze) to the highest standard of work. The bare minimum is showing up or being available, when you show up you must give your best effort. Lastly, you have to be doing to do more and find more opportunities on your own to improve your game. Our players are encouraged to shoot 50,000 pucks minimum, complete 10,000 push-ups minimum, 10,000 sit-ups, read How Champions Think, 10 hours of stickhandling, run 100 miles, watch 100 hockey games, and finally complete 10,000 "up-downs." This off-season program is designed intentionally to be tough to accomplish. Players are then rewarded for their efforts with stickers on the back of their helmets for each task they complete and recognition on this web page. Finally, numerous coaches at the collegiate level have inquired about certain players because of what they have seen on this web page alone. The work DOES NOT go unnoticed.
